Assistive Technology Programs

These programs are geared at assisting individuals with various types of equipment that improve their daily lives and allow them to remain independent.
Assistive Technology, or AT, equates to any item, piece of equipment or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified or customized that assists individuals with disabilities to increase, maintain or improve their functional capabilities within their homes and communities.

SADI Loan Closet
Provides donated, used, medical equpiment to persons who do not have insurance coverage or financial means to purchase durable medical equipment. *Also accepts donations of any durable medical equpiment to be redistributed. Most needed items are wheelchairs, canes, shower chairs/benches, raised toilet seats, and bath bars.

Client Assistance Services for AT Program
Provides funding assistance of $100 or less per year for the purchase of one item of durable medical equipment that is not covered by any type of insurance and cannot be provided through the SADI Loan Closet. Eligibility is based on income and a financial assessment. Persons must have an active case with SADI.

TAP for Internet
Provides vision, cognitive mobility, and speech adapted computer hardware and software free of charge to persons who are Missouri residents, have an annual adjusted gross income of $60,000 or less, have a computer and have home Internet service.

Provides vision, cognitive mobility, and speech adapted phones free of charge to persons who are Missouri residents, have an annual adjusted gross income of $60,000 or less, have a computer and have home telephone service.

SEMO–TECH Showroom
Provides vision, hearing, cognitive, communication, sensory and mobility adaptive aids for hands on demonstration within the center to assist persons in determining if a device will assist them.

Rehabilitation Services for the Blind-Older, Blind Low Vision Center
Provides demonstration of equipment such as magnifiers, Closed Circuit TV and lamps to determine if low vision equipment is appropriate. Referrals for funding and follow up services are made to RSB as needed. Magnifiers can be dispensed on site to those meeting vision and age qualifications.
