Employment Development Programs

Individualized and group employment workshops are available throughout the year.
Information on benefits is provided on an individual basis. Plans for added services are developed with the consumer as needed. Accommodations will be provided upon request (i.e., interpreter, large print, Braille).

Career Planning
Career planning is a service geared toward consumer self-discovery, identifying a career path, and developing a plan for achieving employment. During career planning, staff will assist consumers with the following goals:
- Job exploration
- Job Shadowing
- Informational interviewing
- Assess consumer interest, skills, needs, abilities, and preferences
- SEMO Alliance for Disability Independence staff will explore available employment options in the community

Job Development
Job development assist consumers with obtaining competitive or customized employment in an integrated setting. Job Development services may include the following:
- Assist with completing application, both in person and/or on-line
- Interviewing activities
- Task analysis of each job interest (can be done with or without consumer present)
- SADI staff will work with perspective employers

Prevocational Services
Prevocational services work with consumers to provide one-on-one and/or group experiences to further develop an individual’s non-job skills (social skills, soft skills, etc), which are needed to obtain successful employment. During prevocational services the following services may be worked toward:
- Effective communication with supervisors, co-workers, and customers
- Workplace conduct
- Dressing for success
- Ability to follow directions
- Ability to attend to tasks
- Problem solving skills and strategies
- Mobility training

Supported Employment
Supported employment services are ongoing supports to consumers and their employers. These supports will continue until both consumer and employer feel confident in consumers ability to complete job requirements without assistance from employment staff. Supported employment activities may consist of the following:
- On-the-job training
- Job coaching
- Ongoing supervision and monitoring of consumers performance on the job
- Evaluation maintenance strategies
- Work production
- Natural supports exploration
- Training in related skills needed
- Promote attendance and social inclusion
These services are designed to support successful employment outcomes consistent with consumers goals. Consumers play an active role in the entire employment process.

Eligibility Requirements
Any individual 15 years old or older, disabled, and living within the SADI service area.
If you have a child under the age of 15, but are thinking ahead, please feel free to call and speak to the employment program staff. SADI is always happy to help or provide information to those needing assistance.
