Choose and Direct Your Own Caregiver
Consumer Directed Services (CDS)
Consumer Directed Services is a Medicaid-funded program that allows eligible individuals to select and manage the caregiver of their choice. This caregiver can be a trusted friend or a family member other than a spouse or legal guardian.
Services May Include:
- Personal hygiene assistance
- Meal preparation
- Housekeeping
- Laundry
- Transportation to appointments and errands
- Daily living support
Best For: Individuals who want greater control over who provides their care and how services are delivered.

Professional Support Coordinated by SADI
In-Home Services
The In-Home Services Program is a Medicaid-funded program that allows SADI to hire and schedule in-home aides to help with the everyday activities of daily living. SADI In-Home aides are screened through the Family Care Safety Registry and receive extensive training.

SADI is proud to support veterans and their families with home care services funded through veterans’ benefits. This service closely mirrors In-Home Services and is available to eligible wartime veterans and qualifying spouses, and the spouses of deceased veterans. Our team can help explain available benefits, determine eligibility, and guide individuals through the enrollment process.

Not everyone qualifies for Medicaid-funded or veteran-funded programs. Private Pay Home Care provides flexible support options for individuals and families seeking personalized assistance at home. Services can be customized based on individual needs, schedules, and preferences.

Eligibility & How to get Started
Who qualifies for personal care?
SADI serves individuals 18 and older, regardless of disability or illness, residing in Cape Girardeau, Perry, Bollinger, Scott, and Mississippi Counties. Consumer-directed and In-Home Services require Medicaid. Our Information & Referral Specialist will help you determine your eligibility and walk you through the referral process at no charge.
